How it works
Choose a course
We all know that we are all unique and at different places on our personal journey’s. That is why we have created the two different ‘flavours’ of course; the Experience Series and the Essentials Series.
Our Essentials courses last for six weeks, include personalized video feedback from an ICMP teacher and you can start at anytime. They are less intense and typically require you to commit to 3 hours of study per week. Because of this they tend to be also more focused on specific topics.
Experience courses run at various times throughout the year, and also last six weeks. However, these also include 1-on-1 live online instruction from an ICMP teacher plus group online workshops. These by nature and more intense and will require you to work for typically 6 hours per week. And of course, having 1-on-1 lessons really allows you to dive deep into the topics.
Go ahead and browse from our Experience and Essentials courses to find something that you’d like to learn. We have courses covering songwriting, guitar and music business which more being added all the time.
At ICMP ONLINE we are a worldwide community of teachers and students who have a passion for music. When you start we encourage you to introduce yourself to your fellow students on your course.
When you enroll on a course we send you your login details. If you’ve signed up for an Experience course in advance of the start date, we’ll provide additional materials to help you prepare for the course.
Once your course begins, the first week of your course content will become available in your courses dashboard. You’ll also be able to see any dates for assignments or optional tasks and what you need to do next.
Weekly Lesson Plan
ICMP ONLINE courses are broken down into weeks. These contain various lessons and suggested activities for you to work on that week. Our team of instructional designers have created your course so it flows naturally and make it easy to progress quickly.
Videos, Text & Discussions
We all have different learning styles. Some people prefer video while others love reading. With an ICMP ONLINE course you can learn by watching our HD video tutorials, reading our articles or taking part in our online discussion forums.
Central to all ICMP courses, whether online or on campus, is personalised feedback. Throughout your study, and depending on the course, you will get this through a range of means, be that through the 1-on-1 lessons, through live classes, via private video feedback or event text and through forums and discussions. However you receive feedback, almost all students find that this is the real driver of their progress. It’s through time spent with expert and experienced teachers that we move forwards.
With our Experience courses you’ll also be able to access regular online workshops with your teacher and fellow students. Discussing ideas with your peers is a great way to learn and consolidate information. Its also a great way to make connections with fellow musicians and songwriters around the world that can build beyond the classroom.
Tasks and assignments
All of our courses feature in varying degrees tasks, quizzes, group activities and assignments.
Of course, depending upon the course you are on these may be more or less demanding! Whilst these may seem daunting first these are the places where you will probably learn the most! It is through the practical application of a skill or new knowledge that we learn whether it is embeded and really learnt.
It also provides your tutor with a real understanding of ‘where you are’, what progress you have made in your studies and critically what may be holding you back.
Of course, all of this is optional as these are informal courses, but we strongly urge you to try and complete them if you can; it’s for your own benefit!
Upon completion of your course you will receive a completion certificate to put up on your wall and show you took part.
